LOCATION(S):
Biomedical Sciences Building

Hot Water for the duration of the project
Fire Alarms in the mechanical room will be tested during the daytime work hours

SCHEDULED DATES:

SCHEDULED TIME:
Hot water for the duration of the dates mentioned above — 24/7
Fire Alarms 7:00 am to 2:00 pm daily (excluding weekends)

REASON:
Ongoing Project:  Work needed for the replacement of the Process, Domestic & Industrial hot water tanks

IMPACTS:
***NO HOT WATER will be available for the duration of this shutdown.  This means NO BIKE SHOWERS and NO HOT WATER to sinks and restrooms. Cold water & process cooling water systems will not be affected.

  • Please use the PSB Bike shower on the 1st floor near the loading dock door as an alternate during this time
  • There will be no audible alarms sounded for the fire alarm work—it will be isolated to the mechanical room
  • The Dock will continue to be impacted with loading and unloading. Workers, noise & dust should be expected during this work.
  • Dock will continue to be accessible for deliveries during this workwith the exception of a brief window where a forklift will be used to remove the old tanks and install the new tanks

NOTE about handwashing concerns:
Hand washing is an important part of reducing the risk and spread of disease – please note that water temperature has little or no effect on transient or resident bacterial reduction. Hot water for hand washing has not been proved to remove germs better than cold water.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your continued support and patience as this project is completed.
