Dear Colleagues,
I am reaching out on behalf of the Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives and the Cultivamos Excelencia (CE) team to inform you about a funding opportunity for current UCSC transfer students participating in research available through the CE Research Scholars program. This program aims to augment the number of transfer students participating in research by providing them with paid research internships.
We are launching the program in Spring 2023 and are currently seeking transfer students who are already placed in unpaid research experiences to provide them with up to $2,000 for up to 100 hours of research work (10 hrs per week throughout the Spring quarter). Additionally, students will receive priority enrollment to the Pathways to Graduate School Course (MERR 35A), which provides students with step-by-step guidance in navigating the graduate school application process. This course is optional; students are not required to enroll in the course but are highly encouraged to do so.
Please complete this form by Wednesday, March 1st if you have any transfer students under your supervision who might benefit from this opportunity and who you would like to nominate. Please note we have funding available for 12 students and the positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please feel free to contact cescholars@ucsc.edu with any questions you might have; we look forward to hearing from you.
Warm regards,
Director, Services for Transfer and Re-entry Students
