REASON:
Annual maintenance to maintain water quality standards.

DETAILS:
The UCSC Physical Plant is conducting their annual scheduled maintenance/flushing at key fire hydrants throughout campus. This flushing requires a high flow of water for one minute at each hydrant. 

IMPACTS:
There may be short delays for pedestrians and vehicles along roadways during individual fire hydrant flushing cycles. You may see/hear crew members completing this work. This maintenance will be taking place during summer in an effort to minimize impacts.

*As a result of hydrant flushing, temporary discoloration of the water can occur inside local buildings.  This is caused by minerals dissolved in the water, and is not harmful.
