The Santa Cruz Fire Department will be conducting training on Science Hill at Red Square next week on Monday 7/7, Wednesday 7/9 and Friday 7/11 from 8am – 5pm each day. This is for SCFD crews to familiarize themselves with campus conditions to be better prepared for what they’d encounter in an actual emergency.

Details are as follows:

  • Fire crews will be on site M/W/F next week (7/7, 7/9, 7/11)
  • Crews will train in four shifts:  8am – 10am, 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm
  • Crews will drive a fire truck onto Red Square between ISB and the Science & Engineering Library, parking near the west end of NS2 near the NS2 Annex, leaving space for pedestrian traffic
  • Crews will connect a hose to a fire riser on the west end of NS2, then check conditions on the 4th floor of NS2

This opportunity to partner with SCFD emerged because alternate locations they had planned on using fell through at the last minute. Contact me directly if this training impacts your events or operations, and I’ll work with SCFD to mitigate.

Thank you,
Chris
