Dear UC Santa Cruz Science Research Community,
As we enter our third week of slowly reopening our research spaces, we want to remind you of the importance of following campus rules and policies in place at this time. Less than three weeks into this initial phase of reopening, EH&S has already fielded more than a dozen complaints of individuals or labs not following proper protocol.
The campus is serious about the rules in place for this phase, including occupancy limits for labs and buildings and that face coverings must be worn at all times when on campus, except when alone in a room that is not shared with or visited by others. Individuals or labs that violate these rules may be subject to a temporary or permanent revocation of access to campus.
It is incumbent upon the groups participating in this phase of reopening to follow the rules so that we may move into the next phase of allowing even more of our colleagues back to campus.
If employees have a violation to report, please direct them to the department chair or, if the employee prefers to remain anonymous, they may use the EH&S hazard concern form. As a department chair, if you receive a complaint of non-compliance, please report it to EH&S via the hazard concern form mentioned above and address the violation directly with the PI of the lab.
