Funding for projects that integrate imaging and fluid-based tumor monitoring (liquid biopsy) assays during cancer therapy in patients to determine the optimal use of those modalities in the characterization of therapy response and/or emergence of resistance.
New Directions in Hematology Research (SHINE-II) (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) – June 5, 2021
Funding for nonmalignant hematology research that will steer the field in new directions.
Funding for innovative research ideas and thoughtful plans for training and mentorship that will facilitate the development of the postdoctoral fellow into an outstanding scientist.

California Ocean Protection Council Coastal Environmental Justice Solicitation – Required LOIs due April 23, 2021
Provides between $250K and $5M total funding for up to 3 years. Proposed projects should directly benefit communities entitled to environmental justice identified in the solicitation and address restoration, habitat enhancement, or resilience to climate change, including adaptation to sea-level rise, flooding, and shoreline erosion. A webinar will be held March 29th from 2PM to 3PM.
Department of Defense Multidisciplinary Research Program of the University Research Initiative (MURI) – White Papers (strongly recommended) due June 7, 2021
Typical funding is between $1.25M to $1.5M annually up to 5 years. Topics include ONR Topic 18: Learning from Hearing (undersea environments are of primary interest) and ONR Topic 25: Environmental DNA-based Monitoring of the Marine Environment (ED-MON).

NSF LEAPS-MPS: Early-Career Academic Pathways in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences – June 14, 2021
New type of funding specifically for pre-tenure faculty at Minority Serving Institutions (UCSC is HSI) -very similar to NSF-CAREER. Divisions of Astronomical Sciences, Chemistry, Materials Research, Mathematical Sciences, Physics. Funding up to $250K for 24 months.

A new type of funding focused on accelerated use-inspired, translational research that benefits society at a national scale and requires a high level of interdisciplinarity, as well as a high degree of engagement with diverse stakeholders from academia, government, industry, and the community. Networked Blue Economy (Track E) aims to accelerate convergence across ocean sectors by making connections between ocean resources, data, technologies, training, and impacted communities.
