Cogen Turbine, Central Boilers & Central Heating

SCHEDULED TIME:
11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
REASON:
Work is being performed to repair a leak on the central heating water loop expansion tank that feeds Science Hill.
IMPACTS:
Turbine Shutdown Impacts:
The Central Cogen Engine that provides back-up power to Science Hill buildings will be SHUT DOWN. During this off-line period, IF PG&E POWER FAILS and an unplanned outage occurs, the Science Hill buildings that rely on Cogen for back-up power will only have power from their respective building standby generators.
***Normal PG&E utility power to campus will not be affected.***
OTHER IMPACTS:
There will be no building heat or building hot water available during this shutdown.
This will affect the HOT water supply to all buildings. Restrooms, showers, and sink taps in the buildings will not have HOT water during the shutdown period.
* BIOMED heated process water will also be affected.
