UTILITY THAT WILL BE SHUT DOWN:
Building Ventilation and Mechanical Systems- including Fume Hoods, Processed Cooling Water (Connected w/water cooled equipment), Compressed (Lab) Air & DI/RO Water.
***CONCURRENT ATRIUM SMOKE EVACUATION TESTING***

ALL EMERGENCY AND STANDBY CIRCUITS WILL TRANSFER TO GENERATOR POWER FOR THIS TESTING.
Only circuits that are on Emergency and Standby (Generator) power will experience a “flicker” while transferring.

SCHEDULED DATE:
Thursday, September 11, 2025 (add this to your calendar)

SCHEDULED TIME:
6:00 AM to 12:30 PM

  • 6:15 AM  to 8:00 AM  –  Atrium Smoke Evacuation Testing (Concurrent)
  • 6:15 AM to 12:30 PM – HVAC Shutdown

Generators (GS-039 & GS-047) will be run during the 6am-8am period

REASON:
Preventive maintenance, repair and air filter replacement.

IMPACTS:
HVAC and Fume hoods will not function during this shutdown. Please refrain from working with hazardous materials during the shutdown period. *There will be periodic interruptions to building airflow.

*** All Emergency standby power will be transferred to generator power from 6:15 AM – 8:00 AM. Please check your equipment after the brief interruption/transfer.

DETAILS:
Please remember to close your Fume hood sashes the evening prior to the shutdown and refrain from working with hazardous materials during the shutdown period.

*For building occupants: There will be periodic interruptions to building airflow during this shutdown. Building ventilation will be disrupted/not operational. Only critical research maintenance operations should be conducted. Consult with EH&S (ehs@ucsc.edu, 459-2553) to assess and assist any extended activities. 

Building personnel should avoid entering the building during the Atrium Smoke Evacuation Testing portion of the shutdown.
