PBSci Woodshop Services and Moves Support

PBSci Woodshop Overview

UCSC Physical and Biological Sciences (PBSci) has its own divisional Woodshop team that can support full lab renovations and installations, among other tasks and projects. Our team has a combined carpentry experience of over 75 years, over 35 years of which were dedicated to UC Santa Cruz and lab/STEM specialization!

The woodshop performs larger scale projects on a recharge basis.

Examples of Larger Projects/Recharge work:

  • Lab renovations
  • Equipment modifications
  • Custom fixturing

Smaller work supported by the division:

  • Building and installing gas cylinder restraints
  • Mounting whiteboards and framed photos
  • Installing earthquake safety measures (braces, restraints, etc.)
  • Furniture & equipment removals/disposals and moves

Moves, Furniture Requests & Office setup Requests

PBSci utilizes both the Wood Shop and Campus Movers to complete space moves and relocations. To request assistance with moves, please contact us at pbsciwodesk@ucsc.edu a month in advance and we can assist in coordinating your move.

Quick Moving Checklist:

  • Put in your ADC keys request ASAP for your new office.  You should return your old keys when you pick up your new ones.
  • Unplug your computer(s) and phone – they will be moved by us—your phone number will not change.
  • Pack up personal items – boxes provided.
    • PLEASE TAG all boxes ON THE SIDE and furnishings with your new Room number and your Name
  • If you have filing cabinets  – EMPTY THEM COMPLETELY
  • If you have an idea of desired furniture placement—tape a quick sketch on the desk for the movers—otherwise they will place items as they were in your old space.
