Research Development is a unit within the Office of Research. Research Development Specialists guide researchers through the proposal submission process and assist with idea generation, opportunity searches, and preparing competitive proposals (e.g., reviewing, editing, providing document support).

We will be sharing select funding opportunities and updates with you on a bi-weekly basis; look for our messages every other Wednesday.

NIH Health Services Research on Minority Health and Health Disparities (R01- Clinical Trial Optional) – November 27, 2020

Funding for innovative health services research that can directly and demonstrably contribute to the improvement of minority health and/or the reduction of health disparities at the health care system-level

NIH Administrative Supplements to Existing NIH Grants and Cooperative Agreements (Parent Admin Supp Clinical Trial Optional) – Deadlines vary by Institute or Center (see RFP)

Funding to meet increased costs that are within the scope of the approved award, but were unforeseen when the new or renewal application or grant progress report for non-competing continuation support was submitted.

NSF Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences: Investigator-initiated research projects Synopsis 1 – Rolling deadlines

Funding for different MCB cluster cores, including Cellular Dynamics and Function; Genetic Mechanisms; Molecular Biophysics Systems; and Synthetic Biology

NSF Sustainable Regional Systems Research Networks (SRS RNs) – Proposals due January 11, 2021; Webinar to be held on October 27, 2020

Full scale awards (Track 1) provide up to $15M for over five years. Planning grants (Track 2) provide up to $150K for one year.

NSF Plant Genome Research Program (PGRP) – Rolling deadline

Both of the following tracks support projects at up to $5M for up to five years.

RESEARCH-PGR TRACK: Genome-scale plant research to address fundamental questions in biology, including processes of economic and/or societal importance.

TRTech-PGR TRACK: Tools, resources and technology breakthroughs that further enable functional plant genomics.

Mathematical Sciences Infrastructure Program – December 15, 2020 and May 11, 2021 (single deadline after this year)

The DMS Infrastructure program invites projects that support core research in the mathematical sciences on a national scale, including: 1) novel projects that serve to strengthen the math research infrastructure, 2) training projects that does not fit in other programs, and 3) conference, workshop, and travel support requests that include cross-disciplinary activities or have an impact at the national scale that does not fit in other programs.

Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Grants  (AAG) – November 16, 2020

Program is an inclusive and flexible funding opportunity to support research in the astronomical sciences. The Program provides individual investigator and collaborative research grants for observational, theoretical, laboratory, and archival data studies in astronomy and astrophysics. The Program also considers proposals for projects and tools that enable or enhance astronomical research.

The ER2 Program funds research projects at up to $400K for three years and up to $600K for five years.

NSF’s Virtual Grants Conference registration opens October 29th, 2021.
