This Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Equity Talk will bring together faculty, administrators, staff and students from UC Santa Cruz and San Jose City College to explore how we can further activate the five elements of a Transfer Receptive Culture (TRC), which is defined as an institutional commitment to support transfer students of color. The workshop will present an equity analysis of transfer pathways at SJCC and UCSC, elevate student perspectives on transfer experiences, and serve as a catalyst for further dialogue and action planning. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Dimpal Jain, Alfed Herrera, Santiago Bernal and Paulina Palomino, the authors of Power to the Transfer: Critical Race Theory and a Transfer Receptive Culture, and joined by community college and UC practitioners from East LA College, San Jose City College, UCLA and UCSC.
