Subject: Workshop on Research Opportunities

Greetings HBCU/MI Community leaders, scholars, and allies;

As Acting Director of the Department of Navy’s (DoN) HBCU/MI Program, I’m excited to announce that registration for the Virtual 2021 Naval Opportunity Awareness Workshop (OAW) is now open!  We are looking forward to an informative, enriching workshop and invite each of you to join us.

The driving goal of the OAW is to broaden the DoN’s engagement and collaboration with HBCU/MI faculty and students by expanding awareness of naval priorities and research opportunities.  Key highlights of the workshop include:

  • Two-day agenda focused on Science and Technology funding opportunities, student internships, and the Navy and Marine Corps’ research interests.
  • Opening remarks by Rear Admiral Lorin Selby, Chief of Naval Research and Dr. Bruce Danly, Director of Research of the Naval Research Laboratory.
  • Panels featuring DoN S&T Senior Executives, Chief Technology Officers, Program Managers, Scientists, and Engineers.
  • Discussions with Program Officers and Principle Investigators on proposal submission and best practices.

The workshop will be held virtually June 15 – 16, 2021 between 8:00 AM and noon Eastern Time on both days.  To register for the workshop and find more information, please use the link below: https://www.onlineregistrationcenter.com/OAW2021

Please be mindful that registration is free and closes May 30, 2021 or when all virtual seats are filled.
