Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Essential OSS for Science: Biomedical Research (Cycle 5) – LOI April 19

NIH Bioengineering Partnerships with Industry (U01 Clinical Trial Optional) – May 26, September 26; LOI due 30 days before deadline
For research partnerships formed by academic and industrial investigators to accelerate the development and adoption of promising bioengineering tools and technologies.

NCI Modulating Human Microbiome Function to Enhance Immune Responses Against Cancer – R01 due June 5 | R21 due June 16
Support for basic research on mechanisms that inhibit or enhance anti-tumor immune responses, and identify potential novel molecular targets for cancer prevention.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Pioneering Ideas: Exploring the Future to Build a Culture of Health – LOI accepted on a rolling basis

NASA Earth System Science for Building Coastal Resilience in ROSES 2022 – NOI due April 7; Full proposals due May 17
Funds projects that advance understanding of key biogeophysical, geological, hydrological, and ocean-influenced coastal processes and their interactions within the interface of the ocean-land-human system, and enhance our understanding of how these processes will be compounded in rapidly changing coastal environments. ~$300K-$500K per year for up to three years.

NASA Earth Science Applications: Agriculture in ROSES 2022 – NOI due April 8; Full proposal due June 17
Solicits proposals for a program management capability that increases and enables sustained uses of Earth science information for the advancement of domestic agricultural practices in public and private organizations for economic and social benefits. Up to $15M over up to 5 years.

NSF DCL: Ocean Technical Workforce Education
A range of opportunities to expand technical capacity in the U.S. workforce in high-technology fields through training programs that educate the next generation of ocean technicians, data scientists, ocean engineers, and ocean scientists.

NSF:Earth Sciences (EAR) Postdoctoral Fellowships – October 26
Must address scientific questions within the scope of EAR disciplinary programs and must align with the overall theme for the postdoctoral program.

NSF: Oceanographic Facilities and Equipment Support – December 15
Integrative Programs Section (IPS) of the Division of Ocean Sciences (OCE), Directorate for Geosciences (GEO) supports proposals to ensure the availability of appropriate facilities for federally-funded investigators and educators.

NSF: Earth Sciences Instrumentation and Facilities (EAR/IF) – rolling deadline
Supports research infrastructure that is necessary to advance understanding of the Earth System including: the structure, properties and dynamics of the solid Earth and the interactions between the solid Earth and its biosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere and atmosphere; the history and evolution of life; and the history and dynamics of Earth’s climate. Up to $600K.

UC Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPIs) – LOI May 12, proposal August 4
Open to UC faculty and researchers in any field. Proposals require collaboration among at least three UC campuses. Planning/pilot award $150K/year for 1-2 years; program awards (2-4 years) commensurate with scope. Webinars April 6 and 11.

NOMIS and Science Young Explorer Award – May 15
The award (up to $15K) is presented for outstanding research at the intersection of the life and social sciences performed by the applicant in the past three years, as described in a 1,000-word essay. Entrants must be thirty-five (35) years of age or younger and must hold an M.D., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. at the time of entry.

NSF has added its first new directorate in 30 years: Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP). This new directorate will support use-inspired and translational research that will lead to the development of breakthrough technologies.
