RED HILL ROAD CLOSURE
7/18/22 THROUGH 8/5/22

LOCATION:
Lower Red Hill Road (please see attached diagram).

REASON:
Deferred Maintenance — Red Hill Road Repair Project. Includes various critical road repair activities, resurfacing and overall maintenance.

SCHEDULED DATES FOR ENTIRE DURATION OF PROJECT:
Monday 7/18/22 through Friday 8/5/22

SCHEDULED DATES FOR PARTIAL ROAD CLOSURES:
7/18/22 – 7/20/22 will be a partial closure as work is staged
8/3/22 – 8/5/22 will be a partial closure as well as clean up and demobilization occurs.*
*During these dates no traffic will be allowed through the area— wait times could be as much as 30 minutes or more.

SCHEDULED DATES FOR FULL ROAD CLOSURES:
7/21/22 through 8/2/22- 15 FULL DAYS
No traffic allowed through the area during these dates (except for emergency response by Fire and Police Depts).
Expected dates for road demolition are:  
– Asphalt berm demolition: Wednesday 7/20/22
– Road demolition: Thursday  7/21/22
– Expected dates for repaving:  Tuesday & Wednesday — August 2nd & 3rd, 2022

SCHEDULED TIMES:
All Day – 24/7 FOR ENTIRE DURATION OF PROJECT

IMPACTS:

  • ISB & EM&S Loading docks will not be accessible during this road closure, please delay placing any orders that will require dock access. The BioMed dock will remain operational throughout the construction. 
  • Environmental impacts: There will be work crews & equipment, dust, noise and odor related to this work as it progresses.
  • Expect odor and dust associated with demo of road and repaving work throughout this work. **Air intakes are being utilized on the BioMed & ISB rooftops to minimize the odors when re-paving.
  • Thimann Receiving will continue to deliver shipments on their normal schedule. If a large shipment is expected during this closure period, a contingency plan can be arranged with Main campus receiving at the H Barn. 
  • ADA parking spaces along Red Hill road will be taken out of service. TAPS is working on a contingency plan for ADA parking during the closure. If you have specific concerns about ADA parking, please email the PBSci Work Order desk for accommodation.
  • Emergency Services will still have full access to all affected buildings through the work area and will be maintained as best possible; coordination with UC Police Dept. and Designated Campus Fire Marshal has occurred.

AREA TO BE AFFECTED & KEY DETAILS:
Road repair activities on a portion of lower Red Hill Road will begin Monday 7/18/22. 
For a 13-day duration expect Full closure of Red Hill Road between BioMed and ISB; no traffic will be allowed through the area except for emergencies.

  • Red Hill Road repairs between Biomedical Sciences Building (BioMed) and Interdisciplinary Sciences Building (ISB).
  • Full closure of Red Hill Road between BioMed and ISB; no traffic allowed through the area except for emergencies.
  • The BioMed dock will remain operational throughout the construction.
  • Traffic control signs will be in place on McLaughlin Drive and Red Hill Road. Please refer to the attachment and information below providing further clarification on the anticipated impacts and access restrictions to be imposed by this project
