Jul 28, 2022 | Awards & Funding, Research

To: All Divisional Faculty and Researchers
From: Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations
Subject: Funding Opportunity

The Office of Foundations Relations is pleased to share two open calls for funding from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. For further details: Dynamic Imaging and Single Cell Data Insights Cycle 2.

UCSC Contact: Samantha Forde, forde@ucsc.edu

(1) OpportunityDynamic Imaging
Application Deadline: August 23, 2022

Overview

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) invites applications in the field of dynamic imaging that will support the development of new tools or significant enhancements of existing tools to monitor biological processes in motion, across time, and across spatial scales. CZI’s Frontiers of Imaging effort aims to drive technology development to measure cellular and molecular processes in real time in intact, living systems. Priority will be given to proposals for methods developed for imaging in intact tissues or primary cells rather than immortalized cell lines. Preliminary data is encouraged but not required.

(2) OpportunitySingle Cell Data Insights -Cycle 2
Application Deadline: August 25, 2022
Funding: $200,000 and $400,000

Overview

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) seeks applications for projects that aim to gain insights into health and disease from existing single-cell datasets to help accelerate progress toward challenges associated with the compilation and exploration of large atlas-scale data. CZI is looking to support projects that will advance the fields of single-cell biology and data science. Projects should address computational challenges and bottlenecks associated with boosting the utility and insight from available single-cell biology datasets. Applications are encouraged from computational experts outside the field of single-cell biology but with expertise relevant to overcoming current bottlenecks.

Special Instructions

Please notify the Office of Foundation Relations if you are interested in applying to this opportunity (cfr@ucsc.edu). Please submit a proposal intake form prior to UCSC’s internal Institutional Deadlines. For support developing your proposal, please contact the Research Development Specialist assigned to your unit or send a request to resdev@ucsc.edu.

The Office of Foundation Relations is a unit of University Relations. The FR team creates and maintains mutually beneficial, long-term relationships with private organizations, matching grant initiatives with educational and research programs and centers. FR supports faculty and staff to identify and approach these and other private foundations for funding, to assist in strategic positioning of the grant application, and to facilitate funder campus visits.
