NOISE & WORK ADVISORY – SCIENCE HILL 

Pedestrian Walkway Repairs


LOCATIONS & AREAS TO BE AFFECTED:

Science Hill – Multiple locations:
Steinhart Way South Pathway leading  to the back of Thimann Lecture Hall
– Steinhart Way South Pathway leading to the back of Thimann Receiving/Loading Dock
– Pathway between E&MS and CfAO leading to B206 Lecture Hall
– Pathway leading to Sinsheimer East Entrance from Red Square

SCHEDULED DATES: 
Monday, August 15th through Friday, September 9th, 2022 (4 weeks)

SCHEDULED TIMES: 
7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (DAILY M-F)

REASON/WORK BEING PERFORMED:
Demolition and repair of multiple pedestrian walkways on Science Hill.
Demolition work will begin on Wednesday 8/15/22. Outlined below is the activity planned over the span of 4 weeks when demolition noise/vibration, dust and odor will be prominent.

ACTIVITY BREAKDOWN BY WEEK:
Week of August 15th-19th:  Mobilization, Demo walkways, grade walkways, start install headers.   DUST & NOISE EXPECTED ALL DAY
Week of August 22nd – 26th: Grade and compact subgrade, install root barriers, & continue work on headers and base rock.  DUST & NOISE EXPECTED ALL DAY
Week of August 29th- September 2ndFinish up headers and base rock work.  DUST  EXPECTED ALL DAY
Week of  September 5th – September 9th: Paving, demobilization, & cleanup. ODOR FROM ASPHALT WILL BE PROMINENT.

***If building occupants are sensitive to vibration and, noise disruption and/or odor, we suggest remote work (if possible)  during the project when demo work will occur.


IMPACTS:

  • Expect odor and dust associated with demo of pathways and repaving work—
    there will be work crews & equipment, dust, noise and odor related to this work as it progresses.
  • Staging area along Steinhart Way in the parking areas and other areas close by for work equipment/vehicles. 
  • Construction signs and barricades along Steinhart Way will be in place for vehicle traffic and pedestrian control as needed, while equipment is entering and leaving the construction sites.
  • There will not be any impacts to ADA or Medical Permit parking areas.
