EMERGENCY & STANDBY GENERATOR TESTING
9/11/23 THROUGH 9/26/23

LOCATION(S):
Campus Wide (See schedule for your building below)*

UTILITY THAT WILL BE TESTED:
Emergency & Standby Generators

***ALL STANDBY CIRCUITS WILL TRANSFER TO GENERATOR POWER***

SCHEDULED DATES:
Monday 9/11/23 through Tuesday 9/26/23
* Please see detailed schedule below for your buildings dates

SCHEDULED TIME:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Daily—Monday through Friday

REASON:
Planned Maintenance & Testing of Campus Generators

IMPACTS:
The Electric shop is scheduled to perform the Emergency Generator planned maintenance (PM) at various facilities. Due to the volume of generators on campus, this planned maintenance is spread over 4 weeks to accomplish the testing.  You may hear the generator running during the testing.

There won’t be a power interruption, although circuits on Standby Generator power will experience a “flicker” while transferring.
Please note the following:

  • If you have sensitive equipment that will be affected during the brief transfer period, please be advised to power them down and to not have ongoing experiments during this time that could be interrupted.
  • Due to the nature of this campus wide planned testing, an exact timeframe for the transfer of power to generators is hard to specify, the testing takes approximately 1.5 hours to perform. Testing starts at 7:00AM — and PBSci buildings are scheduled in the morning to minimize impacts.
