UTILITIES TO BE SHUTDOWN
This is a whole building water shutdown that includes Domestic Cold Water (DCW), Domestic Hot Water (DHW), Industrial Cold Water (ICW), and Industrial Hot Water (IHW)

SCHEDULED DATE(S):
*2 Full Days in Duration
Monday, December 18th, 2023
Tuesday, December 19th, 2023

SCHEDULED TIMES:
7AM – 4PM, daily

REASON:
Building water backflow system replacement, coupled with additional end-of-life plumbing infrastructure components identified for replacement. PPDO has combined these two critical projects to minimize impacts to occupants in the future. 

RESEARCH & OCCUPANT IMPACTS & DETAILS:

  • Emergency eyewash and safety showers will not be operational on Monday, December 18th 
  • All activities involving corrosive, irritating, or otherwise hazardous materials that could splash to the eye or body are prohibited. 
    • Such activities may resume on Tuesday, December 19th as eyewashes and emergency showers will be back in service
  • On Monday, December 18th, there will be no functioning restroom facilities, drinking fountains, commuter showers, or sinks in common breakroom areas. Please use alternate facilities in nearby buildings (ISB, NS2). 

Building Systems impacted on each day are as follows:
Monday only: Domestic Cold Water (DCW) and Domestic Hot Water (DHW)
– All restrooms
– All commuter showers
– All emergency eyewash/showers
– All drinking fountains
– All kitchenettes 

Monday & Tuesday: Industrial Cold Water (ICW) and Industrial Hot Water (IHW)
– All Lab faucets and fume hoods
– All Chilled water systems
– All DI water systems

NOTE:
This shutdown was originally scheduled during the Winter Curtailment period in order to minimize impacts. Due to the extensive work required to replace the building’s entire backflow system and to perform other repairs simultaneously, this critical project needed to be started earlier than anticipated.
