TRAINING ADVISORY
LOCATION: Science Hill, in between ISB and the Science & Engineering Library.
AREA TO BE AFFECTED: Red square between ISB and the S&EL, Santa Cruz Fire Dept (SCFD) will park a fire engine near the west end of Nat Sci 2 for training activities.
SCHEDULED DATES: Monday (7/7/25), Wednesday (7/9/25), and Friday (7/11/25)
EXTENDED to: Monday (7/21/25) and Wednesday (7/23/25)
SCHEDULED TIMES: 8:00 AM TO: 5:00 PM
REASON: The Santa Cruz Fire Department will be conducting training on Science Hill at Red Square on Monday 7/21 and Wednesday 7/23. This is for SCFD crews who were not able to attend the previously scheduled trainings due to emergency callouts (a wild-land fire and marine rescue) to familiarize themselves with campus conditions to be better prepared for what they’d encounter in an actual emergency.
Details are as follows:
- Fire crews will be on site M/W next week on 7/21 and 7/23
- Crews will train in four shifts: 8am-10am, 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm
- Crews will drive a fire truck and other support vehicles onto Red Square between ISB and the Science & Engineering Library, park near the west end of NS2 near the NS2 Annex, leaving space for pedestrian traffic
- Crews will connect a hose to a fire riser on the west end of NS2, then check conditions on the 4th floor of NS2
